International Rural Women’s Day- Beating Isolation in the Bush
It is fantastic to celebrate and recognize the incredible women out in the rural and regional areas of Australia. They are the heart and soul of small towns, the ones that keep so many of our industries going and many are running their own businesses in addition to family commitments. International Rural Women’s Day is a day to shout from the rooftops and celebrate all things female and rural. Big Ideas Rural, a virtual space dedicated to educating and empowering rural business women is hosting a virtual summit themed “Inspiring Through Story.”
“We wanted the summit to be virtual, so that any woman, any where could join. It’s about overcoming the isolation we commonly see as small business owners and rural women,” says Big Ideas Rural co-founder Tori Kopke. “There are a lot of external and environmental factors affecting people in the country, and we wanted a positive movement that removed some of that isolation.”
The day is centered around four speakers, Peace Mitchell of AusMumpreneur, Megan Woodward an expert storyteller, Chantel McAlister of Chantel Renae Photography and Haley Dawson of the Rural Naturopath. Each speaker will be telling her story and demonstrating how authenticity can help impact and connect others to your business. Each speaker session is followed by a Live Q&A as well as an online networking activity, it is truly a virtual summit design to connect as well inspire.
“You can get inspiration in a number of different formats, but the live connection in the bush is a tricky one,” says co-founder of Big Ideas Rural, Samantha Meurant. “We want all rural women to feel connected on a day that is all about celebrating them. As rural women ourselves, we understand how logistically difficult it can be to get to an event so we wanted to bring the event to every business woman no matter her rural location.”
There has been an incredible movement of support behind the summit, with the door prize alone valuing in over $2,000. Complete with professional service consultations and art packages as well as gift vouchers to popular labels such as Iris and Wool, and Wattle and Twine. Sponsors for the event have also included Mia Davies, Member for the Central Wheatbelt, Creative IQ, and Liquid Gold Consulting.
“Being in business in rural Australia is both amazing and challenging. With our remote team scattered across Australia, and regularly working with fellow rural businesswomen, we are excited to be supporting Rural Big Ideas to deliver the ‘Inspiring Through Story’ Virtual Summit and are excited for the opportunity for rural businesswomen to connect, learn, inspire and celebrate,” says Creative IQ founder and owner, Anna Dixon.
The Big Ideas Rural Membership platform is launching in conjunction with this fantastic event. Founding members are welcomed into the community and gain access to an exclusive virtual space. Each month a new topic is introduced with modules including a masterclass, worksheets, discussion topics, challenges and an ongoing book club. For the first month of membership the focus is on mindset and tackling imposter syndrome, future topics include goal setting, work life balance, forward planning, scaling for growth and dealing with stress. The $27/month membership package allows access to the summit as long as membership is maintained.
“We are excited to open membership and to welcome founding members on International Rural Women’s Day, it naturally aligns with everything we celebrate as a business. We are passionate about education and empowerment, by formalizing our membership we are able to better serve community members,” says Tori.
